Tests Performed for a CPR
Given the level of depth that our home energy audit provides, we think it’s important to tell you about how some of our tests are conducted during this energy audit service. Keep reading to learn more about some of the advanced tests we provide during a CPR appointment.
Blower Door Test
This test involves placing a blower door inside your home and forcing air outside. This door includes a very powerful fan that simulates 20 mph winds on all sides of your residence. The air pressure inside the home is measured against the air pressure outside the home and, by accounting for the volume of the house, we determine how many natural air changes occur per hour. This home energy audit test works very effectively at detecting energy loss. In addition, the equipment we use during this energy audit test is very eco-friendly.
FLIR Camera Test
Another test used to detect energy loss inside your home involves the use of a FLIR (forward-looking infrared) camera. These cameras help detect any air leakage inside your home. During this home energy audit test, one of our energy audit technicians will walk through your home with a FLIR camera, which helps to expose any penetrations coming in from outside the thermal boundary. These penetrations typically come from windows, recessed lights, doors, plumbing penetrations, exhaust fans, and any other locations where a leak might occur.
